Fun activities / Another car show
Last post by Still Pat - September 27, 2025, 11:40:52 PM
Took the wagon to another car show today. Small, my GUESS is 30(?). I was the only AMC (of course). Weather may have played a part in it, but the parking lot wasn't big enough for many more!

Fuel Systems. / Re: Fuel filler neck for sx4
Last post by EagleSX4_5Speed - September 27, 2025, 08:15:55 PM
I don't have one but found you can buy the filler neck grommet from American parts depot. Part # 941 4125. https://www.americanpartsdepot.net/FuelExhaust2.htm

As for the hose and cap. You could repurpose a Jeep XJ Cherokee filler neck. I did that on mine when I switched to an XJ tank in my SX4. Although that filler neck has an extra hose for the vent line that is not on the SX4 tank. You could cut it off and weld it up.

I don't have one; but here's some info that may help in the search. The AMC part number for the lower fill tube is 3240019.  It fits all '81 and up Spirit and SX/4 models.  It does not include the upper piece (the part that the gas cap goes on).  May be not too hard to make something, as its just a tapered tube with an attachment bracket at the top.

Fuel Systems. / Fuel filler neck for sx4

I bought a 1981 eagle sx4. The tank was out and pretty rusty. Cleaned it up and sealed it. The prior owner said filler neck was in car but it's nowhere. Where can I buy one or will I need to fabricate? Is there another one that is close? Thank you

Transmission Shop / Re: A904 Trans pan

I usually go with the Summit Racing house brand deep aluminum pan (also has a drain plug in it!).  Use one of the MOPAR O-ringed plastic gaskets, and it'll never leak again!

Only going by what parts store list, nobody has a listing for any in this area. If you have a brand name and part number, maybe that would help, or if you can find one there I'll gladly reimburse you for it.

The Eagle should have a TF998, not a 904. Also, I believe that they reproduce the trans pans. That's the route I'd go.

Transmission Shop / A904 Trans pan
Last post by HappyPappy - September 26, 2025, 03:18:53 PM
Been a long time since I've been on here, but I aquiered an 84 Eagle wagon the other week. Had plans to fix it, but old age stepped in, so what I need is a  transmission pan for an A904. seems like the trans got some water in it and rusted a bunch of pin holes in it.  It had the motor replaced about 60k ago. It run fine, just doesn't move. soonce I get a pan for it it will be road worthy then it will be for sale.  so if anyone out there has a pan for it, let me know.  Thanks

What really draws comments around here is when I have the Sundancer out with the top off/down.  Folks chase me down and yell out their car window "What the &%$#@& is that??".  When I have the Pacer coupe out, they just point and laugh.

I'd say I get comments about 50% of the time if I'm stopped at a store, gas station, etc.  That's with my Kammback, which really draws attention.  The 2 door coupe, not quite as often.  Everyone seems to have good memories of them, nobody has every told me they are a piece of junk lol
