Hello all, awsome site! I am the new proud owner of a 1985 amc eagle wagon, 4.2 with only 126000 miles. Of course it needs a bit of help. I already ordered a new valve cover as the ol' plastic bleeds oil like crazy. Also I need to find some parts. The Carb was replaced with a motorcraft, with a rinkydink air cleaner I would like to replace. Also I need to figure out the kickdown linkage, but that is for another post-department. Thank you in advance for advice! Pics coming soon
there's lots of help here, BUT we must see your car! You will receive no help until you show us your car.
Ha ha just kidding, but we really love pictures to drool over. :rotfl:
Welcome to the nest.

I will take some daylight pics promise..
Welcome! Nice looking Eagle. You'll find lots of help here, now that you've posted some pictures hehehe.
I've edited your post so your pics show up here.
Nice eagle. Now you can ask for help! :rotfl:
Kickdown needs go be in place. Air cleaner is just fine. Kickdown needs to be in place. It controls hydro pressure to tranny
Oh I will be asking for help! But I will try to post in appropriate areas... Also not sure how to post pictures without photobucket... So here is a pic I took this morning. I think it is real decent looking for its age. I have been told everything from "awsome car!" to "you paid what for that ugly thing?". To each their own I say, I like this car..

awesome eagle, looks very simular to my 83 wagon. welcome to the nest
It's awesome. All eagles are awesome.
Nice eagle, love the color. Looks like you have the Roof rack delete??
QuoteLooks like you have the Roof rack delete??
Not sure what you mean, there is no roof rack
Usually there is one... was one... Unless it came from the factory without one.
all the wagons I see have roof racks.
They're so common I had assumed they were standard equipment. Someone will probably let us know soon.
My 86 wagon doesnt have a roof rack either....or roof paint for that matter ;D (http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc377/shanebo79/2450.jpg)
and there's no sign of a roof rack ever being there?? I gotta say, that's a first for me.
I mean I'm sure you could ask for one from the factory without a roof rack, I've just never seen one that didn't come with one. I would consider anyone buying a station wagon is looking for cargo space, and would want a roof rack.
Interesting...
Roof racks are great but they can pose one heck of a problem when those well nuts start leakin'...my poor 83 wagon had started to leak...luckily I caught it and repaired it before it filled up my floor board with stagnant water.
yep no sign of roof rack ever being there. I'm ok with that, I just have to make a trailer hitch reciever for more room. Fortunately, the paint is still present.
HI Cat
welcome to the nest . Nice Eagle looks good with out rack .All of mine have a rack . I did not know they made any
with out a rack .... I wonder if that was a 1985 thing or is their outhers out there.........Don
I kinda thought roof paint was standard on some models, too!!! ;D

Shane, the roof paint delete is a very rare option indeed! Really increases the value of the car!
:laughing4: :rotfl:
Not many people got that paint delete option as it added another $10,000 to the sticker price. One like this sold on the auction block at Barrett Jacksons a few months ago for i think somthing like $125,000...as you can tell by the picture she is a pampered trailer queen. :rotfl:
actually all joking aside, ya don't get to see cars with that much paint gone, and not rotten to death. That IS really rare.

i saw that episode of the auction. The car was still on the trailer as they brought it on stage, and the trailer was included in the sale price.
Shes a high mountain desert car....no rust at all.
My '82 wagon has neither a roof rack or rear wiper. Just rolled up 79k, have to have state inspection next month.
Been awhile...........................Eddie
