Eaglepedia has a pretty large set of vacuum diagrams. There are several variations for the 1983 model year.

I still have an issue with the idle. At starting to low, after the engine has operation temperature it is getting to high.

Make sure your fast idle cam on the carburetor isn't sticking and the choke is opening. The two are linked together so the steps on the cam drop the idle as it warms up until the choke fully opens and unloads the cam entirely.

Question and Answer / Order parts for suspension rebuild - am I missing anything?
« Last post by Evenprime on April 04, 2024, 04:49:41 PM »
Good day everyone.

I'm in the process of ordering parts for the eagle and I want to completely rebuild the front and rear suspension.
While Im at it, Im going to replace the brakes, brake lines, fuel lines, e-brake cables etc.

I currently have ordered and received from energy suspension:

Strut rod bushing x2
Bump Stops Front x2
Sway bar Bushing Kit x2
Lower Control Arm bushing x2
Upper Control Arm Bushing x2

I am about to order today from Energy Suspension:

Sway Bar Mounting Bushings x2
Spring Perch Bushing x2
Prothane Isolater Pads x2

* I'm also in the process of ordering Lower Control Arms from a guy on here.

Then, from Kennedy American website

Ball joint boots x2
upper ball joints x2
pitman arm and box to nut washer kit
idler arm
* Inner tie-rod x2
Outer tie-rod x2
tie-rod adjuster sleeve x2
tie-rod boots x2

And I might order from them, but if I can order this from someplace else local:
standard duty leaf-suspension x2
rear leaf shackle kit x2
rear shackle bushing x2

Questions:
1) I see front springs on their site, does anyone know if those are direct replacement. Im trying to stay stock but I have yet to find springs and thought they didnt make them anymore?

2) The car sways around when I hold the steering wheel straight so I constantly need to adjust - its not horrible but noticable. Everything felt tight though when I looked at it but I dont have a lift so didnt go to crazy and also know Im replacing a lot of stuff. I figure its looseness in the steering box or something like that.

3) If you can think of anything else I might need?

I basically am building this car to be a daily driver and figure if Im going to replace the ball joints, might as well replace everything and have it good for another 20 years.

The car is in extremely good condition but the surface rust and rubber bushings have made me want to do replace the underneath stuff. The bushings are cracked and look horrible (40 years old) but they actually still work well but I know as a daily driver, they'll fail asap.

Thank you everyone, jut looking for input before I spend a crap load of money

Thank you for the hint! I found several disconnected vacuum lines. After reconnection the engine runs a bit smoother. However I am not sure if somebody has removed something. The old boy has still a lot of vacuum lines.
I still have an issue with the idle. At starting to low, after the engine has operation temperature it is getting to high.

Its too bad that we are living in the decline of forums due to other social media platforms. I know that I am newer hear, but I am not new to forums. I have been over on Comanche Club for almost 6 years at this point, which has had a steady number of members in that time. This leads me to have a couple questions for the moderation team:
1. I see that lots of subforum moderators have not been active in months, if not years. Do you need help moderating? I could moderate a few subforums.
2. Is there anything that we can do to help grow the population of this site? There is way more information here than on Facebook, it just doesn't seem to get a ton of eyes on it. I have some ideas, but I don't want to be stepping on anyone's toes here either.

Hey, just wanted to get back to you on your offers.  The admins talked it over, and feel at this time we don't necessarily need to add any moderators, just because there isn't much activity that requires attention.  Second, if you have any suggestions on how to get new members, retain old members, or increase traffic on this site, we'd be glad to hear them.  It's a shame that it's so quiet here anymore, it was a very thriving community when I joined in 2008.  Thanks again for volunteering to help.

Sounds good, I will send you a PM. It really is a shame how quiet it is.

Den member Rollguy made/modified a tent for his wagon.  You might want to reach out to him, I don't think he is on here very often anymore.  Good luck, show us pictures of the finished product!

Will do! I'll reach out to him

I am wanting to buy/make a tent for my wagon, similar to the liftback Hornets had in the 70s. Does anyone have a picture of one? All of the pictures I've found do not show up.
