1981 AMC Concord DL for sale in Villa Park, IL.
258 6 cylinder, Automatic Transmission, 2.53 rear axle. Power steering, Power Brakes, Power Windows, Power Locks, Air Conditioning, Radio Delete. Approximately 138,000 miles. Clean Illinois title in hand. Asking $1,500 OBO.

Car was my Dad's daily driver between 1998 and 2004. I started tinkering with it in my high school auto shop days (2009 through 2011) and used it as my first car. In that time, I replaced most of the front suspension wearable parts including:

February 2010 at 118,000 miles
Moog Strut rod bushings
Moog upper and lower ball joints

July 2011 at 121,000 miles
Prothane Polyurethane Upper and lower control arm bushings
TRW Idler arm
Raybestos Inner Tie Rods
Prothane Polyurethane Sway bar end link bushings
Moog Rubber Sway Bar bushings
SKF front wheel bearing, left and right, inner and outer

In Summer 2012, the transmission was rebuilt by AAMCO at 123,000 miles and I took the car to college with me between 2012 and 2014.

After that point, it was no longer being driven regularly and was mostly garaged. It was registered through 2020 so it was driven here and there. After 2020 it was started and moved around once or twice a year.

Car still starts, runs, drives, and brakes. That said, it hasn't been driven regularly in quite some time. While it could be driven away, I would recommend trailering.

It can be very easy if you just unplug the bulkhead connector right above it. There is a small bolt in the middle that holds it together. I think it is a 5/16. Once you unplug that it is a 20 minute job + the time to bleed the system.

This is the number on the Girling master I pulled out of my Eagle a few years ago. I could never find anything by searching the number. Girling 74660674 BS3.

Those Girling numbers are just for the remote reservoir; not the cylinder itself.

Quote from: Grizz on June 08, 2025, 10:58:29 AMWhen you say the clutch master cylinder is readily available can you supply a link? Ive installed the willwood version and my clutch is right off the floor, it works but not what it should be. Ive bled it properly (a dozen times), slave is new, and the line is a new braided line with remote reservoir.

I'd recommend just calling Kennedy-American @ (614) 879-7283 and giving them the Girling numbers I listed above and your application.  Their website is not particularly easy to navigate, but they've been helpful to me in the past.  As usual, calling some of these AMC-specific vendors is better than relying on their websites.  Sometimes they may not have something listed, but it's in stock anyway, and if they don't have it, they may know where to send you to someone that does, or an alternative.

I would personally not recommend rebuilding a clutch master cylinder.  They are way too much of a pain in the butt on an Eagle to replace to uninstall it, do the rebuild, reinstall it and then have the thing either fail or leak within short-order.  I converted my automatic Eagle to the factory T5 setup, and access to the master cylinder requires the brake booster to be removed, unless someone is a better contortionist than I.  That's quite a chore in itself.

If you do use a Girling master cylinder, please do yourself a huge favor and spring for the Castrol EU-spec DOT4 brake fluid as this is permitted for the seals in the Girling MC.  The first time I did the T5 swap, I used regular Walmart DOT3 brake fluid in a brand new Girling MC and the seals were leaking within (6) months.

Link to the Castrol brake fluid.  Pricey, but worth it IMHO.

Checking RockAuto, their stock replacement release bearing comes to 1.180" in width, bore of 1.435", outside diameter 2.760":

https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=219813&cc=1003509&pt=1968&jsn=1081

CJ7's used the same setup, 258/T5, and I imagine the release bearing is the same as well. Might lead to more info on sizes or replacement options.

Looking around on Pegasus's website I found you can buy brand new Girling master cylinders. Available in 3 bore bore sizes. They are more expensive than the OBP ones.

https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productselection.asp?Product=3502&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=3502&srsltid=AfmBOor4yz6o9RPuxnfjAiJuL0IxYopuIuHW8Qo-Aa_9b5d_UOf9FeISbs4&gQT=1

They also sell rebuild kits. This would be a great option if your original master cylinder bore is free of scratches but leaking.

I have been looking for a master cylinder as well and came across these. I have not ordered one yet but I might soon as mine is starting to leak. Just need to measure the bore diameter.

OBP Remote Reservoir Master Cylinder. They are a replacement for the Girling master cylinders and available in 5 different bore sizes.

They can be ordered from Pegasus auto racing in the US.

I do have a T5 but I haven't changed the clutch yet. It was changed shortly before I bought it. I helped my dad change his about 15 years ago and the old throw out bearing is long gone.

EagleSX/4_5speed might have some ideas. I know he has a manual transmission car.
