Hello Eagle's nest! Just wanted to say hello and tell my story a bit. I grew up in the Mountains of Washington State, our family car was a 1972 Jeep Commando, and we had many adventures. My Mom had an accident and could not handle the clutch on the Commando, and in 1980 my dad traded it in for brand new 1980 Eagle 2 door sedan, shiny black, and the prettiest car I ever saw. I loved the Commando, but the Eagle had AC and other comforts that quickly won me over. We took the Eagle all over the place, I remember pushing snow with it. Sadly the Eagle was T-boned a few years later, and my dad then bought a Diesel Chevy Monte Carlo (big mistake!)
I am a fair mechanic, having restored a few cars over the years, and I now have a 1973 Commando of my own. It is a bit of a project, but I'll get there soon! I left WA state with the military and am now retired in Nashville, TN. I've realized over the years I have almost never seen an Eagle on the road since i left home in the late 80's. I've decided to fix that and put an Eagle in my driveway. I like Overland/Car camping adventures, and a nice Eagle Wagon would be a great setup. I did spot one on CL that I plan to take a look at, it may work out, or if not I'll keep searching for the right car. My preference is always to avoid rust, I can fix anything mechanical
Thank you all for the wonderful resource here, I look forward to many nights of research!
