1988 Wagon with the Brith being 12-7-1987
« on: May 14, 2014, 06:42:32 PM »
With the arrival the restore process has began, much needed to be cleaned at the first step as it's been parked for 22 years. It was a lucky old girl as it was parked inside and not in a damp place. Her under bones appear to be in great shape, but her blood needs a little transfusion, the first add was a pace maker (battery) top of the line and she now is able to start on her own. Some may never look at an old girl that could not be drove home or even truly tested before the purchase, the price was right and the chance was worth it. "Nothing Better Than Towing One Home!"

It was hard to put engine flush though her at the first time of the starting process, but in this case 20 year oil I took the chance, put in the flush cold and started her with an engine hose flusher on the water system she ran a full 6 mins with water cleaning the water system and Motor Flush cleaning the oil system, all seems to have went fine and all seemed to clean up very nice. She will feel better in the morning.

The history shows that there was life before the parking, two items on the wrappers have been gone for over 20 years, and it also shows that it was a non smokers girl!

This is a tease as I have started the paint cleaning, I think the original paint is going to come back to life with a few night of work! I feel much richer at this time as I found a total of 63 cents in the driver arm rest, the newest coin being a 1991 that's history!

Nice looking wagon! Looks very similar to mine I just sold a couple months ago (an '87 ltd but was the same color).
Love digging for the "history" memento's, you can find some interesting things and possibly even the build sheet for it  ;)

Yeah, when your cleaning it up pop up the bottom of the back seat, if your lucky you just might find the build sheet under there!

I found two of them there, one under a front passenger seat and one behind the headliner

Sharp wagon. Glad it went to someone who will appreciate it.

On the 3 Eagles I've owned, I found the build sheet in 3 different places. On my 81 it was behind the drivers door panel With the 86, it was under the driver's seat in the springs and on the 87 it was tucked into the roof above the windshield which I found when I removed the headliner.

A birthday of 12-07-1987 places that one very close to the end of production.  What are the last four digits of the VIN?  There were 2306 Eagles produced for 1988, so your VIN should end with something close to that number.

Why was a 1988 Eagle parked since 1992?
1973 Matador 2 door
1979 Concord 2 door
1980 Concord 4 door
1980 Eagle 2 door
1980 Eagle 2 door
1981 Eagle SX/4
1981 Eagle wagon
1982 Concord 2 door
1987 Eagle wagon
