Will those work on 84 AMC Eagle four door sedans. My front drivers side window channel is missing a piece. How hard is it to take out and replace the window channel.

How hard depends on the size of your hands. Mine are not very big and I still leave part of them inside those door panels any time I work in there.  Maybe I'm clumsier than other people.  Otherwise it's just a matter of doing it - it's not rocket science.

Thanks. Just to make sure I am thinking the right thing. The window channel is the stripping that sits inside the door frame around the window when it is ruled up so wind and rain will not get in right. I have never done this before so it might sound like a stupid question but why does the door panel need to be taken off. Is it hard to get off. Just wondering because I currently do not have a shop or any place inside to work on it so it would have to be a quick job. If some one used water would it not get inside the door and get any of the electrical wires wet. Thanks for your time.

yup that is the window channel ..... the piece that the glass slides up and down inside (on the front and back edges)

Thanks, how hard is it to take the door panel off to get to it. also side question but where is the post that explains how to post pictures. Need to get some up for my car.

Door panel is easy.  Some screws on the bottom, remove the window crank, door handle cup, lock knob, clips hold the sides of the panel into the door,  start from the bottom and work them out going from side to side.  If you have power windows you may have to remove the switch cover too.  Lift the panel up out of the window slot and then it will be free.  If you have a remote mirror there is a set screw on the back side you can loosen to allow the toggle lever to come out of the housing in the panel.

I ordered the window channels for the 2 door from him.  They are somewhat different than the factory originals.  The main problem area is the top rear part of the window frame that makes a right angle.  The factory original weatherstripping also was formed in a right angle here, but his weatherstripping is straight with relief cuts at that position.  I found that when bending the weatherstripping to make that right angle it puckers inwards and the window hits the puckers and the weatherstripping gets squished rather than sliding on either side of the window.  I folded some thin cardboard to the thickness of the window and with a screwdriver carefully pushed it into the right angle at the top rear of the window frame using the screwdriver to pull the puckers out so the cardboard could slide inside the weatherstripping.  I left the car like this for a month.  This allowed the passenger side weatherstrip pucker to take the shape of the window thickness cardboard and the window afterwards rolled into that corner nicely.  This did not work on the driver's side window which had a worse pucker for some reason.  I removed the cardboard from the driver's side window and when rolling up the window it still hit the pucker and squished the weatherstripping out of place.  I eventually had to cut the weatherstripping at that corner makeing a 45 degree cut on each side and slide it together.  This made a join with gaps in it and I ended up filling the joint with silicon to make an airtight seal.

The window channel weatherstripping is also shorter than the factory originals and on each side of the channels in the door the weather stripping ends 4 or 5 inches from the bottom of the channel.  The window is still supported by the weatherstripping in most of the channel and this did not appear to be a problem (as of yet) in my doors.

I'd contact him. He'll make it right for you. He doesn't like dissatified customers. He's a great AMC guy.

I did contact him.  He said :

"First Ive heard of the puckering corners. The replacements have a relief
hole and cut out.
I tried one and I see what you mean.
It seems the holes were punched in  a little too much.
If it becomes a problem,carefully remove the corner and use a hole puncer
and remove just a little more. Remember to open the flap first.
I have some pieces you could use for filler to extend the lower channels.
It should be ok without but if you want i can send some.".

I don't know if I would say I'm dissatisfied, a little disappointed yes, but I did manage to get it to work satisfactorily.
