Wasn't intentional.  Saturn goes in to the shop tomorrow.  Something my mechanic and I cannot fix.

Rich put the auto body hammers I got from my wife's Grandpa to good use.  He bent the metal, so the license plate and light will mount nicely to the studs the spare mounts to.

I am amazed that WE were able to cut the width of that piece of sheet metal (about 6") with that old worn out hacksaw!

Yeah I was amazed as well.  I am hoping to be able to get out to Kenny's to use his drill press and bench grinder.  All it'll cost me is a 5/8" metal bit.  He looked and does not have one.

Cool!  Thanks for sharing.  I'm really looking forward to seeing all who make it to the meet.

got the painted spare carrier mounted, spare mounted and bolted.  I also installed the license plate bracket, light and plate temporarily.  It looks great I think.

I still need to do a couple things....
- Paint the license plate bracket
-repaint the mounting plate for the spare (got scratched trying to mount the wheel).
- redrill one of the license plate light screw holes (odd angle & screw won't go in)
- get another license plate bolt and 2 wing nuts.

What do you all think?

Here's the wiring for the license plate light...

It is as close as we could get it, so that it did not hinder the hatch opening.  Originally he had made it closer, but we didn't account for the hatch opening in the original incarnation..

I don't know if there is much thievery in your area, but you might think about putting on a hitch pin lock, and drilling one of the studs and put a padlock instead of one of the outer nuts holding on the plate bracket.

Thanks for the tip Rich.  I have not figured out how to lock it all up.  I want to get a locking receiver hitch pin, which I can get a number of places.  I think I might get a set of locking lug nuts for the spare (which I wish I would have thought of before I bought all the other bolts).

Pigonawing and I were planning on doing the HEI upgrade this week, but I just had to shovel a ton of money into the Saturn (tires, brake switch, and redo on the radiator flush I had done a month or so ago).  Then, Pigonawing taught me how to do the front brakes on the Caravan.  Then, I had to do the tie rods, and tires on it too.

Eagle is on the back burner again :(

Update:
I have quite the to do list this spring.

I still have the seats and HEI conversion to install.

I also just ordered the Motorcraft carb conversion kit from GRONK this morning.

Looks like I need to find a time to do some wrenching.
