Started with rockers...

I had painted some sections before. Many years ago I did some underbody sandblasting and added some zinc paint. It turned to be not so good after all. (I used it when painting rockers of my daily driver and it cracked and let rust penetrate under it!)

This was the worst looking part, not blasted at all...



And after some TLC and elbow grease...



And the best of all... no rust holes! I knew that before, but there is always time for a surprise...

Painted front fender. First I had to strip paint that I painted last winter.



Then it was time to finish metalwork (grinding and sandblasting and a little bondo) and paint it with etching primer.



After that filler primer and sanding... and more primer...

Then it was time for black paint... I used spray can to do job... It is not polished yet...




"A valance panel without dents?!?!?"  It wasn´t without dents... Closest corner had an old bondo repaired dent. I did it right way...  And there was another one in the middle... needed little hammering.

Yesterday I did some I fixed bad paint. I used spray paint and rubbing compound. That´s bacause I bought a polishing machine...

There were two rust spots in this corner...



I found some nasty rust hidden behind hinges... Got drivers side finished yesterday...



Today I got my car lifter finally fixed... What was wrong with it? There was a blown fuse! This is electronically controlled Nussbaum car lifter. Fuse was hidden inside of the control unit. It wasn´t mentioned in any wiring diagrams! Oh´those germans...

Hey that rattle can paint works great if you know how to use it.
I keep seeing that British program where they buy old cars to fix and sell, the mechanic likes to use the rattle can on a lot of projects and dose a good job at it.

My one-time employer had some MAN buses. When the factory people came across the ocean to show us Yankees about German buses they constantly referred to us technicians as " :censored:Americans", at least when they spoke English. I'm not saying they represented universal German attitude, but those particular people certainly weren't "goodwill ambassadors" :o

BTW, Juhap, your craftsmanship is superb. I continue to marvel at what you've accomplished. Here, have an egg and a quaff of German beer :occasion14:
