Started to work with motor. So far it has been "just" cleaning and taking all apart. As you all know leaking head cover gives you a lot of dirt. I ordered new parts (oli pump, timing chain and gears, gaskets, fuel pump) and it was a quite suprise that finnish US- car partshops don´t have these common parts anymore. They said that delivery time is between 2-3 weeks! One shop close here had all but oil pump in stock... They promised that I can have all the parts next friday...

I have tried to fix front fender flares. Someone had used angle grinder to give some space when using too big tires... All four corners were cut off....

I´ve started already. Installed that aluminium valve cover, because plastic one is now on an other Eagle engine. It is from first finnish Eagle...


It is kinda dead...


Some marks... and dirt...


Oil pan needed brass... There were tiny little holes almost through metal...

Today I finished the alternator, new bearing and brushes. 
I wirebrushed it and painted with silver and then a lot of matt varnish... Like new aluminium... Idler pulley has new bearing, too.




How can I open this pulley (#15) ? There is a bearing inside, but is it impossible to open?

Jurgen is the expert on rebuilding those.  IIRC he ground down the lip on the pulley that keeps the bearing in place.  He used my dremel tool for that, then he pressed the new bearing with a proper sized socket, a hammer and a hunk of wood.

I just got the whole pulley , it wasn't that expensive..........I wonder how much the bearing is alone ??

I think I paid around $7 for it.  It was put on Mav's red, now orange, SX/4 when he was still asleep.

That alternator looks brand new!! Did you replace the bearings and brushes yourself? My alternator is a bit worse for the wear and Im sure the bearings and brushes are needing to be replaced as well.

Yes, that was an easy job to do. Brushes are bolt-on and bearing needs a socket and hammer. It is under bolted cover. The other bearing is a roller type and it lives longer than the other...

I bought bearing and brushes from local dealer. There are repair kits available... Like this...

Alternator of "how-to"´s look like mine used to be... Black and full of dirt and rust...

I opened that pulley... my camera died...

Started grinding edge



First I drilled a hole in the middle of pulleys bearing cap. Then I drilled a hole to a block of wood. And hammered bearing and its bolt out thru that hole.





Here are all ready to come together. Pulley, bolt, 6203 bearing and plug to cover pulleys hole. 



Ready to use...



Plug looks stupid, but it was all I had.

What's securing the pulley to the bearing? Is it simply an interference fit?
