Rear axle swap
« on: June 08, 2021, 12:58:06 PM »
So my project is looking at a rear axle swap since I want a torsen t-2 limited slip differential.  I've been looking at the Ford 8.8, somewhere in the forum I recall someone saying a 2011-2014 mustang would work and a torsen is available for them.  Also the rear discs that come on it is a bonus.

But they have coil spring perches, I've found some leaf spring perches to weld on but it has me wondering more.

What suggestion would folks here have?

Thanks!
-Andrea

I was thinking a Ford 8.8 from a pre 2000 explorer. I would like rear disk as well.

Sounds like a good candidate, from the Ford 8.8 writeup on rangerworld it shouldn't be much wider.  And I'm lucky enough to have an '80 with the 3.08 ratio.

The linked page doesn't cover much re the mechanics of the swap - it does look like some assembly required around the mounts for everything.
