for those who dont know im running with a 4.0 head on my 4.2 block. i got a 90 valve cover but im lookibg to replace it. the later year valve covers are cheaper. anyone know any fitment issues?

shaggimo

Nope. I have an older valve cover on my newer 4.0, lol, just get the right gasket and fasteners for the stamped cover, (I assume that's what you're going with).

Yeah, thats it, lol, just reread my post, you can swap back and forth as long as you have the proper gasket and hardware (they are different).

The mid-87 to the end 258 cast aluminum valve covers are exactly the same attachment to the head. When AMC designed away the plastic cover it used the same pattern on both engines.
