I would say that ifyour going to haul a heavy item around such as a bus to not overload the brakes.
btw it is easy to overload an eagles brakes.
So I found out. I upgraded the brakes with Grand Cherokee calipers and pads in front and the rear axle was AMC Model 20 (I replaced the original rear diff when an axle snapped after being hit by someone backing out of a parking spot) from a Matador wagon. It had electric brakes on the trailer too.
My biggest problem was snapping converter necks on the 998. I was looking for a 727 from an FSJ when I got my '83 Cherokee full size. I didn't swap the trans in because it was a 999 and I was disappointed it wasn't a 727, but that trans stood up to my trailer and the Cherokee hauled the trailer after I gave up on my wagon due to frame rust.
