As far as the Offenhauser intake manifold goes... every time I read a description about it it says for manual transmission only. Can it be used with an automatic trans and if not ...why?

Thanks,

JB

Well...........maybe. The reason for that is the carb on the offy has to sit sideways, putting your linkage farther away from where it was, depending on how much "extra" tv cable you have to work with will dictate whether or not you can hook it up properly. That is the main herdle with the Offy.

You have to switch to a Lokar kick down cable to make it work.

I wonder if a dodge truck cable would provide the needed length.

The Dodges with 3 speed auto had linkage and not cable passing gear.

A friend's 93 d150 has a cable.
That would probably be an A500 which is a overdrive version of the 904. That could be a cheap junkyard source for a TV cable instead of the Lokar when going with a different carb setup or EFI and retaining the factory transmission.

If it had the needed extra length that is, one of those deals where you'd need both cables to take measurements from.

Anything is better than that Lokar price (not that they don't make a nice product but.....dam )
I Don't know why. But everybody's always talking about their STI or That guys EVO, I think I'll stick with my old, but reliable AmC. Did I ever tell you I was Full blooded Eagle?

My set up wouldn't help you much other than maybe give an idea or two on how the throttle and tv cable bracket could be set up, being that I'm running an aw4, there was already enough excess to make it work. I can post bracket pics if you would like.

I have installed Clifford and Offy intakes w/ the Carter and a kick down cable.  It's not hard but you will have to fab the brackets.  The ? is, why change the intake and keep the carb.  Replace the carb too and double the performance gains.  The aftermarket intaks are great.  Some will require you to mount the new carb sideways, some will not.  Running a feedback carb on an aftermarket intake is troublesome because no EGR, no nothing but carb.....
