Front universal joint R&R
« on: May 02, 2012, 08:57:55 AM »
The front driveshaft U-joint in my '84 wagon is shot, but it seems at first blush to be impossible to replace. When I get under the car, it appears that the caps that mount into the driveshaft yoke are held in with clips (as one would expect), but the diff yoke caps are blocked in with tabs that are part of the yoke casting. I tried the Eaglepedia and came up empty, maybe somebody could post the relevant info from the service manual?

After going out and taking another look, it appears that the diff yoke has a u-bolt arrangement. Not sure why I didn't spot it yesterday. :banghead:
