Congrads, 1980 was a very fine & good year for the Concord on steriods (aka Eagle). This coming from someone with the 2 door.
On another thread I know there was a discussion about the 2 door being a sedan or coupe. What was the outcome of it? 2 door sedan or 2 door coupe lol.

I believe the outcome was that there is a 2 door sedan and a 4 door sedan. Something about the interior space requirements of a coupe.

My '80 Wagon is missing that same plastic piece that fills the gap between the bumper and the car.

Thats an easy fix. You should be able to find them in the junkyards. It's been a while since I changed mine but you will need to take the bumper, tail lights & license plate holder off and if I remember correctly you will have to drill out the rivets that holds that piece to the body.

Can you tell if the holes were the Eagle name should be were filled in on the drivers fender. If so maybe you can pop the filler out & put a name plate on

On another thread I know there was a discussion about the 2 door being a sedan or coupe. What was the outcome of it? 2 door sedan or 2 door coupe lol.

Iowaeagle was answering this question. The factory called them both sedans. The usual definition of "coupe" is two door sedan, so we know what you mean when you say "Eagle coupe."

Some people define coupe to specifically not include hatchbacks. The SX4 and certainly the Kammback don't count even if they have just two doors. The exception is when someone says "fastback coupe" which can kinda mean a two door with sloped rear hatch like the SX4.

None of the four door sedans should be called a coupe. The word coupe mostly means it has two doors only.

This reminds me alot of the definition of "ship" versus "boat." Many people aboard U.S. Navy ships have gotten in trouble if they disrespect the vessel by calling it a boat. Even in the Navy few people actually care and the few people that do are often mocked. The majority of people define boat as "thing that floats." In the end language is defined by the consensus of the people who use it. I work and live on a ship. I refer to it as "the boat" to my coworkers and family. I also happen to have a Naval Architecture degree and know all sorts of places to go for a different definition of boat using all sorts of numbers and units, net versus gross versus deadweight tonnage you name it. In the end those numbers have no bearing on the definition of a word, just on legal contracts, schematics, and other bureaucratic nonsense. It’s still just a big chunk of steel that floats.

Its an interesting article but there is still no such thing as a four door coupe and no one actually cares about interior volume. The most basic definition for everyone to agree on is that a coupe is a two door car. There is a valid argument there for the SX4 because many people relate its shape to that of various sport cars like the Mustang. Indeed I would use the word coupe if I looked at an Eagle for the first time and saw "SX4" on the side because I would think it was a trim package like "DL." The Kammback is harder to sell because it’s body style is more like a Jeep Cherokee. You don't see anyone calling a two door Cherokee a coupe.

haha I bet you're one of those freaks who use the word "pop" to mean "soda" too. That's a felony where I come from. Tis all good, different strokes for different folks.

As for the definition of sedan, even Mercedes can't convince me otherwise. I'm just as stubborn about calling a 1980 AMC Eagle an "all wheel drive" car even if AMC called it "four wheel drive" back then. I wonder if that Mercedes has more than 33 cubic feet internal volume? If it did I doubt the marketing department at Mercedes would care.

I know right, this is why I should rule the world. Just for fun I looked up what wikipedia has to say about "station wagons."
The American Heritage Dictionary defines a station wagon as "an automobile with one or more rows of folding or removable seats behind the driver and no luggage compartment but an area behind the seats into which suitcases, parcels, etc., can be loaded through a tailgate."
That means that the Eagle Station Wagon isn't really a station wagon! It doesn't have a tailgate. Unless the rear hatch is actually a tailgate too, in which case my SX4 and Kammback are station wagons too. They have tiny internal volume. They must be "coupe station wagons" it seems.

I was actually just gunna say somethin bout that lol I was thinkin this was about my eagle??? Hahahahahahahaa oh well =P

So the orginal owners manual was in the car so I seen what trim package it had by lookin at the vin. The title says its a DL but yet no DL badges are on it, and I did check the title to the vin and its the right car so I think either mine was wrecked at some point or its just a factory goof up.
