Air Intake?
« on: January 23, 2012, 09:56:37 AM »
Anyone doing any performance mods on their air intake?  I am looking to get away from the standard intake.  Any suggestions?

I have the Short Ram intake mod for both the Carter BBD and the Motorcraft.  Here's one installed on a Jeep:

i actually prefer to run it across the valve cover to the cooler side of the engine.

If course, you will be required to N U T T E R your carter run rig if it is so.....  I've been using these setups for 6+ years now and love them.

I'm running one on my 83 Lilited wagon.  It clears with no issues.  I run it over the valve cover to the pass side of the engine.

I stock them for my carburetor business.  PM me if you need one.  I have 18 in stock.

Hey GRONK, do you know if one of those intakes would work on a stock (Jeep) '91 mpi throttle body in an Eagle? Just curious, I may be upgrading at some point...

Not likely without some mods, it's got the center stud hold-down where your throttlebody doesn't have the stud

Ah, ok. So I guess it would just attach with a clamp normally? Don't have it yet, so I'm just picturing it in my head. Probably wouldn't be all that hard to modify, just need to plug up that hole and figure out how to attach it. Although by that point, I might as well just use a stock Jeep intake.

I have mounted these to several TBI's with no issues.  I also have offset studs available and can assist with anything cistom needed.

Gronk, are you going to have any of these units at Tri States?  Thanks.
