Not really a new topic, but just installed new collins bros aluminum Valve cover... SWEET ;D

$100+ well spent i suppose.. hate oil on my motor.
One question:  Why do they recommend changing the 5 1/4-20 holes to 5/16-18 and drilling and tapping the two new holes to 1/4-20 when the holes that are started are 17/64 the size that 5/16 needs to be drilled to?   I did not follow the directions, and I re-used the 5 1/4 bolts, and drilled and tapped the two new holes to 5/16.  Just my two cents, wondering if anyone else did the same??

not real sure...i noticed two holes on the valve cover were 1/4 rather than 5/16 though.  i don't see that it would make a difference either way
