Can't find a tranny part

Hi all,
My transmission mechanic/landlord did a tear-down/rebuild of my transmission/tranny. It is in fantastic shape from what I've been told, no parts needed, except for one: the Offset Lever Insert. I haven't actually seen this part or where it goes exactly. It is apparently busted, and I've looked everywhere for this part online and no luck my landlord can't find one either. I was told its not a big deal, isn't going to stop the car from going, or cause any major damage not having it, but it'll be great to have in there, it'll keep the gearshift wobble down (and the related noise).
Has anybody dealt with this part before? Any idea of where I could find one? Is there anything else I could use in its place?

If you can let me know exactly what I am looking for I bet i have it on the automatic trans I pulled out of my 83 wagon (automatic)

I would assume she's has a manual trans since she said it has a sloppy shifter.

Is it the bushing labled as 21?  I know this is not a 4wd trans but this should still represent the part you're looking for.

No, she said offset lever so part number 20.

Haha....you guys are getting warmer! Now that I've got my internet functioning again (sort of) I'm uploading a pic of it. Offset Lever Insert, Part 29 on this diagram.



I should really try to get the (remainder) of the part from him if he hasn't thrown it out, I might be able to fab something up, but I need to know exactly what it looks like (and where it fits, what it does blech).
The SR4 was in Fords wasn't it? Perhaps the Ford dealership could get one of course they're closed today....ugh!

Allrighty now I know the part. Iirc I improvised and used a hose to replace that bushing. Possibly 3/8" cut to length than split and shoved around the shift pin.

Mudkicker:  Was the original made from nylon?  Something I had seen referred to a nylon part but that was before I really know what it was.

You can find nylon bushings at most hardware stores (around here anyway) that have a good selection of nuts and bolts.  The more specialized parts are in pull out trays.  Might have some in aluminum but that may or may not be a good idea.

Awesome! I'll go see the landlord tomorrow or Tuesday when he isn't too busy and get him to measure the exact diameter I need, I'll head to the store and get a nylon bushing Home Hardware has a great selection....of course worst case i think we've got tons of hose lying around

It's just an idea and I don't know if it will work.  You part looks different than what the T5 I posted uses.  Might be a starting point though.  Also, mudkicker didn't say what trans he replaced one by using hose so...

It's too bad you couldn't swap to a T5 or AX15 since your this far now.  But I know how much time and $ you've invested so far.  Understandably I doubt you'd want to take on more.

Didn't say as of recently I thought it was t4 found some info it might be an sr4
