All the red ones I have seen used the standard "chrome" inserts.  Never have seen a factory black one, but guessing they are the same way.

Thats mighty generous of you Don!! ;D I think ill take that black one off your hands ;D...Well.. on the other hand maybe Id better not, It would just break poor Gingers heart seeing me in that geogeous Sx4...Id better get her fixed up and feelin pretty before I go bringing home other Eagles :rotfl:

I might be wrong but I think AMC actually clad the bumpers in some kind of black material as the finish is extremely durable.  To include multiple deer proof.

Nope there never was black chrome for any Eagle. All were the standard silver, or red and white for special Sport SX/4's
