Not to long ago I saw a concord for sale. It was a 2 tone 2 door heavily optioned concord. It was silver and grey and it had badging to the tune of silver or platinum edition or somthing like that. Anyone ever see anything like that?

I saw one on ebay a while back. I believe it was 1979 Silver Anniversary model for the 25 anniversary of AMC.

On May 1, 1979, AMC celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Nash-Hudson merger and released a limited number of specially appointed "Silver Anniversary" AMC Concords to commemorate the event. The special models received a two-tone silver metallic finish, silver vinyl roof, commemorative badges, and individual reclining front seats upholstered in special black or russet "Caberfae" corduroy.

These were brand new about the time I started getting interested in AMCs (cars in general). Quite a few were V8 powered and there was also a "silver edtion" CJ5 Jeep available. Haven't seen one of either the Concord or the CJ5 for a long time. Where did you see the Concord for sale?

I saw one for sale at the 2009 AMO National Meet in St. Louis. The guy wanted $2,500 bucks for it. It needed a good TLC on cosmetics, but it was all there engine wise.  Probably one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

I have an NOS fender emblem for one of these Concords.  It says "AMC Silver Anniversary 1954-1979" or something similar.

I was going to put it on the glove box door of my '79 Concord which I sold and then bought back last year... but I don't know if I'm going to keep the car or sell it again.  :-\

WOW.  :o  But I'd say its worth it, that's a RARE (that can't be stressed enough...) piece of history that deserves to be sold for a high-dollar.  It's about time that the later-years AMC cars get some attention...

For that money it had to go to an AMC'er.   Really nice to see a Concord go for that kind of money.

I agree...Not a car that really appeals to the mases. It doesnt really fall into that luxury catagory..lincoln cadillac etc...nor does it fall into the muscle car category...It can only be truly appreciated by a person who knows and loves their AMC's. No way anyone who wasnt an amc'er  would pay upwards of 8 grand for it....wish I had it in my garage :)

Concords when compared to their competition, Nova's, Mavericks, etc. were a bit more upscale when it came to their interiors and trim.

Really nice to see a Concord go for that kind of money.

Speaking of Concords and big dollars... did anyone happen to see that gorgeous '78 survivor with 17,000 miles on the auction site last week?  The reserve wasn't met, and it was bid up to $7000.00.  Particularly impressive considering it was a base model four door sedan.  320659537940

There's another '78 on there this week, this one a two door with a factory 304 and only 43,000 miles.  Starts at $3000.00 and worth every cent of that if you ask me.  140518007501

I'd have to say that the Concord is probably the single most underrated AMC model, but they have really grown on me in the last few years.

Hemmings Classic Cars noted in a recent issue that the old Mom and Pop cars are growing in popularity mainly because they have not been highly collected, thus far, the prices are reasonable.  Unfortunately, they also go to the crusher quicker because they have not been collectible.
