So after all this planning and let downs there is a major issue again. The driver side half shaft is incorrect and rubs the grease fitting and has worn half way through the boot already after 300km.
The garage always gives me a super deal since I do all their computer stuff and we trade. Got the Eagle back with the following work done:
both half shafts (bought at the same time)
R&R driver side front hub, I took the hub to a machine shop to be rebuilt with $100 in parts.
both driver side ball joints
T-case fluid change
rear diff oil changed
passenger side inner rear diff seal
Now the problem stuff, the ruler is 2 cm wide and measuring from the top of the flange in the control arm where the ball joint goes, wrong half shaft:
Note the massive boot compared to the other side, red cardboard in 1 cm wide:
This is the other side with correct half shaft, there is approximately 1cm difference in clearance between the boot and flange from this side to the other:
Since this axle bolts in despite the wrong outer joint and boot, what vehicle could it be meant for?
