85 Eagle suspension upgrade
« on: October 02, 2022, 01:10:05 AM »
Hello all,

I'm new to owning an Eagle, all though I've wanted one for a long time. I just got an 85 Sedan. It came with a set of wheels and new tires off a Dodge minivan, and they look good, but the tires rub. The current suspension feels a little soft. Given the two, I figured I'd look into upgrading the suspension and putting a 2" lift on the car. I've heard that the Eagles use the same suspension as the Cherokee's, but are they equivalent for the same year? I've looked through the forum and see a lot of talk about suspension, but those threads are several years old. I'm looking for what is good now, any recommendations for upgrading the suspension?

Thanks,

Our 83 wagon has a 3" lift.  Rear axle lift is acheived via blocks between axle and leaf springs.  Front lift, not sure, but previous owner says he used other amc springs, possibly gremlin?  There is a cistom fabbed bar between suspension arm and shock/spring assembly, so not sure what was done?
