Does front driveshaft always turn even in 2WD? 1986 model
« on: September 04, 2019, 12:42:18 AM »
Hi all new here, quick question for the experts... I have the 1986 Eagle wagon and from reading it has a 128 open differential which was apparently one year only.

Does the driveshaft in front of the transfer case always turn while driving, even in 2WD? I see the U-joint in front of the transfer case (rear of the front driveshaft) is floppy so I'm going to replace it but I was wondering if it turns or not.

I only use 2WD right now anyway.

Yes; since the later models do not have the "discoupler" on the front dif, it'll always be spinning.
