I am undergoing a street car modification on my Eagle SX/4. I know the common way to modify an Eagle is go either for the overlanding modifications or a full off road mad design. I am building an Eagle under the pretense of what would AMC likely have done if they decided to make a SX/4 as a FIA Group 4 and/or early Group B homologation special (kinda like an AMC version of the Audi Quattro but built from the Eagle SX/4). For those that do not know, a homologation special for Group 4/B was a special model (of which a certain number had to be produced) designed around touring car or rally motorsport. They are usually less modified than the full race edition but feature many of the designs and components of their full race brethren, just detuned. A common feature among homologation specials in the 1980s and later 90s were box fender flares. This made me think, has anyone ever made box flares for the Eagle SX/4? If not, what would it take to build them (I already know how I would do it, but I'm interested in hearing what other people would do). Lastly, does the AMC Eagle community as a whole think this would be interesting or blasphemous? I look forward to hearing people opinions on this matter.
