wow seams to be winding down here
« on: November 24, 2016, 10:46:09 AM »
Like the title says... Seems to be winding down here. Thats too bad as I have always enjoyed this forum in it's verious forms. I guess as the number of Eagles declines so too do the members and posts here. I myself am part ofthe decline since the loss of my Eagle which is for sale by the way.
I could not go anywhere with it without people coming up and talking to me at every stop and parking lot gas station ect. Everyone wanted to buy it but now that it has to go nobody wants it. It is a real sad situation. One the first real snowfall hits it has to go. I have no place to keep it and the city is chasing me around about it. It has plates and proper insurance but it is parked on the street but I do move it around.  Got a ticket for having a for sale sign in the window.

I will be giving it 1 full week here in the classifieds as well as the amcforum, ebay and kajiji (ebays Canadian classifieds). I dont want it to go to the shredder but there is going to be no other option.

hey, maximus, part of the decline is guys like YOU! Eagle owners who are no longer, or soon to be no longer  Eagle owners. People are getting rid of their Eagles, 'cause parts are getting too hard to find, or knowlegable people like YOU, are getting rid of them. You would think that in a place like Winnepeg, an Eagle would be a premium car!, but, like any "old car" they are longer wanted. Knowledge and skill to maintain an old car is simply slipping away, cars are like refrigerators  now, and nobody' s out there with the skill, or even the desire to maintain them. Occasionally, some young guy here will buy one, and ask a question, like how do I get a 300hp motor into an Eagle, or how to lift this thing 6 inches. I will give a good faith answer, and they never come back,. or they say , car won't run, what do I do?, and expect simple answers. hey man, if winter is coming, why don't you just DRIVE the thing, that's what Eagles excel at! (btw, I used to live in Saskatoon, so I know, ok)
I know, man, too many cars,no storage, no buyers, good luck, gz

.....and...there is the eternal "need" to somehow turn an Eagle int a Jeep, ie deep gears, transfer cases,, lifting, etc, Eagles were not meant for this! If you want a Jeep, get a M@#$%f%^ing Jeep!, Eagles are ROAD cars., but, we shall carry on, gz

Facebook is killing the forum. The Facebook page is pretty popular and there are new guys joining there quite often.

Yes, that's 95% of what's causing this forum to "wind down", not that fewer people are buying and driving Eagles.

Its quite unfortunate as this is a far better format for finding and storing information.

I've seen this on the other forum as well, surprisingly, just recently. Don't want to get to the stage of " my magic 8 ball and diagnostic dice say it is ___ . if I can help someone , I'll give advice based on what I've learned and experienced. The just searching for easy fixes may burn me out soon as not everything is going to be easy, if they want to fire the "parts cannon" they can, I'm not going to recommend a part till I'm convinced that is what is causing the problem.

:rotfl: and as far as Facebook, that seems to have taught me how to be a better lurker, I do even less posting there than I do here.  The recent fascination with the nearly extinct renix jeeps are not much help either.,

Ok. Guilty as charged. I've been negligent in posting here, mostly because I have been too busy working on cars and not posting about it. For example I just got done pulling the transmission out of one wagon and putting it into another.  The "donor" car has been a daily driver but is in need of a bit of this and that so I'm putting it in storage for the winter. In the spring I will change it over to a 95 jeep drive train  (thx Iowa Eagle)

Is it just me or what. I checked out the facebook page & it seems only one person is doing most of the posting. What happens when he gets tired. Everyone else is just posting pics. of their cars.

I'm guilty of the facebook thing. I'm so often on my phone where it is easier to see and view and not at a PC. But I thought I'd check in and say 'hi'!

I like to to tell people my Eagle is like a Ferrari. It's quirky, tempermental, border-line exotic, and something you don't see everyday.  See? Makes perfect sense....

I uninstalled the FB app from my phone yesterday and don't plan on going back to Facebook. I was off of it for 2 years, but the Eagle FB group sucked me back into it.
