Hydraulic Clutch Lines - 81 SX/4 Iron Duke w/ Reservoir
« on: November 07, 2015, 04:41:23 PM »
The Hydraulic Clutch linkage in my Eagle has been an uphill battle since i first purchased the car in 2008. Leaving the car parked for most of the time i've owned it. Keeping my story short I need new hydraulic lines to connect the master and slave and master to reservoir. I was planning on making them myself but no place ive looked carries any flexible line that can be used for this purpose. I haven't tried looking for replacement lines in at least four years but back then I know i couldn't find anything!!! Does anyone happen to have any idea what i could do in this situation?!

Well, I would think you could make up something useable with aftermarket stainless-covered brake hose & fittings from such brands as Russell or Aeroquip.   May try looking at the their catalogs just for grins.   The hard-line portions could be made with bulk steel brake line.

welcome to the world of AMC! the few! the proud! the ones that can't just buy stuff from old car catalogs. keeping an old AMC alive, especially an Eagle, requires a bit of personal ingenuity and a willingness to learn how to do things on your own. If you are already a good mechanic, working on an Eagle will just sharpen your skills, if you are not, well...no better place to start! good luck,gz.  ps sorry, but both my Eagles are auto, don't really know about the standard shift cars, but others here do! for what it's worth, making you own hard lines is inexpensive, but requires some time and practice. again, good luck.

I got flexible braided stainless clutch line from advance adapters? Or novak? They exist, they are nice, they are expensive.

If you know the fitting sizes, you can have braided stainless lines made by Paragon or another company. http://www.paragonperformance.com/clutch_lines.php

We have a local auto parts place that will custom make any line or hose, you might have one like that as well somewhere near you?

Look for one that carries stuff for farm and big trucks, they seem to be more inclined to do stuff like that than the chain stores

I had a new one made for mine, I just took them the old one for reference
