Cover your eyes
« on: December 31, 2014, 08:14:48 PM »
Like it says, cover your eyes. I went and picked up my latest Eagle today and its worse than I was hoping for. This is a one owner custom ordered '87 Limited
( no power options ) It was involved in an accident on Thanksgiving evening. Its a shame the damage is so extensive as thecarwas in pristine condition before the idiot ran a stop sign and got their Toyota broadsided.

Oh dear!  And, I have nothing you can use for repairs.  Is it still OK under the hood?

I've got parts but the framerails are twisted to a point of no return. I would certainly repair it if it was viable. And yes parts will be available from this one but not until it warms up outside.-0 outside right now.

Got the damage trimmed off so I could move the car to a different spot.  The frame rail was wrapped around the alternator and the water pump was broken at the snout. The car still runs and drives but the center link for the steering is jammed into the crossmember so steering is extremely difficult especially with the collapsed steering wheel.

I believe that is totally fixable, and would be worth the effort.  If the frame section to the rear of the crossmember is straight, the front section is easily repaired.  You would need a donor for the parts.  It would be a shame to see this car get parted out when there are options still available for fixing it.  To do it professionally would be expensive, but there are many people that have the talent to do it for much less.  I had a core support replaced for $300 by a friend of mine, and the insurance estimate was for more than the car was worth.  Please don't give up too soon on this one.....Rich

Rollguy, I agree its fixable, but ,1) I can't store it until a donor shows up
                                                        2) any donors in my area (Mn) are bound to be rusty
                                                        3) It would cost me more than the final product would be worth in time alone.
But rest assured the parts will go into both of my boys wagons to help get them to a more respectable point.
The drive train will wait until needed, the doors and interior will go into the 84 and the wheels and exhaust are slated for the 83 that's getting a 95 Jeep transplant. I will end up turning around any other items to nest members.
Now I just need a couple months of 26 hour days to get all this done before the city comes down on me.
