Water on the floor
« on: April 05, 2014, 02:55:44 PM »
Howdy

So I've been working through some issues with the Eagle. I had top pull the carpet some or stank badly. Worth all the snow melt and rain lately I've been seeing water on the floor on both sides.

What areas should I look at when things dry up a bit?

Roof rack, if it has one. Windshield seal.

That's what I was thinking. I also read something about the old A/C system and how it could get clogged.

Your A/C may dribble water on the floor if it's running on a hot and humid summer day. That's just a question of unplugging the condensation drain. The problem you describe seems to be the result of cold and wet weather. Mernsy's answer makes more sense in this case.

So I sealed the windshield, sealed the main roof rails and still water found it's way inside onto the passenger side floor. None on the drivers side though.

Guess I'll have to look other places. Any ideas?

could the cowl vent drains be plugged up, and the water be going into the heater box instead?

Water likes to sneak down the inside of A pillars.  Can you find any cracks or openings in or near it.

I used a silicone sealant that creeps, and made sure it was all sealed up tight.

I have a feeling that it's creeping in near or at the fire wall. Going to have to go over it with a fine toothed comb and check those spots you all mentioned.

... and uni body stress cracks do like to appear at the top of the A pillar near where it goes into the roof.

Rained last night so I was able to see some still trickling down inside. Almost positive it's creeping from the A pillar direction, or roof.

How is the upper seal in the windshield?  Do you have a wagon with a roof rack?

It does have a roof rack, I've sealed that up. Today I did a bunch of work and removed a bunch of trim. I noticed that there is a bit of water getting in at the windshield on both sides. About 3/4 on the right side, and towards the bottom on the left side.

I think I'll splurge at some point and have it professionally re-sealed.
