I've been using this site for a few months, so I guess it's time to introduce myself. Unlike a lot of you, I am not an Eagle fanatic, and in all fairness, the only car that AMC ever produced that excited me was the Marlin. I happened upon my 84 Eagle wagon one day in southern Alberta, she was looking lonely on a side street, covered in dust and grime, and with a for sale sign on the windshield. I made the phone call, had a quick inspection, found the car to be mechanically sound, and started the negotiations. In the end, I convinced the seller that a 30 year old car was worth $800, not $2500, and took her home. New rubber, filters and fluids, and some rear brake work, and she was ready for the first road trip. I found the Eagle to be a pleasure to drive, both on pavement and dirt, and had everything I wanted- reasonable cargo space, comfortable ride, tons of torque on the hills, and most important- no car payments! From that first trip she became my daily driver, to and from work, shopping, and on the weekends, camping trips to the mountains. The greatest thing about my Eagle is that I no longer have a $700 per month truck payment, and still can confidently go almost anywhere I want.
Thanks for all the help I have already received, and here's to a long friendship.
