Cable Return Spring for Hood Lock
« on: July 26, 2021, 10:34:19 AM »
On the hood lock, there are three springs. Two large and one small. The small one returns the arm that the hood release cable is connected to. Mine is damaged, so when I release the hood it does not retract the knob.

It seems I can't buy this anywhere. I've tried some generic springs, but all of them are too weak to work, or too long.

Does anyone either know where I could buy a spring that will work, or maybe have a hood lock lying around that they would sell from a parts car?

I can't find the hood latch anywhere either.  If I needed one, I'd hit up the closest junkyard.  Doesn't have to be an Eagle spring, any hood latch spring of similar size should do.  Some latches are easier to get to than others, but almost all of them still use that same basic spring-assisted setup.  I just did a latch on a 2005 Silverado, and it was super easy.  Just a few plastic pop tabs to pull the top plastic cover off, and two 10mm nuts after that.  Dodge Stratus are easy too, I think.  One of them has to have a spring that will work...for Eagles' sake.
