Another Newbie
« on: June 02, 2013, 10:31:11 PM »
Just realized that I never actually introduced myself.  Bought my first AMC vehicle back in January, but for the better part of the next 2+ months it was living at the local body shop waiting for them to fix a relatively minor bend in the front end. On the plus side, I did end up getting a free windshield!
So anyway, I'm still getting to know the car. It has a couple of quirks that still need to be worked out, but that's to be expected... especially since it had been sitting for a while before I purchased it.  Still need to get it washed and waxed so I can get some better pictures.

It came with those wheels. At first I really didn't like them, then they kind of grew on me, then I realized that they stick out too far and spray dirt all over the side of the car.  Would prefer to go with something stock, or at least lower profile.  Anybody want some Panther Custom EMR 108's with American Racing center caps?  ;D

Your front wheels do seem to stick out a lot?

Are there wheel spacers behind them?

I have jeep wrangler wheels and they don't stick out that far, I have some stock aluminums I would make you a deal on, but you are a long way away from me

Jeep Cherokee wheels work well too, lots of those around

There are many threads on the site about what fits, or someone here will help you

Like the color too

I think they are either late model Wrangler wheels or for RWD, which will beat the heck out of the wheel bearings.
AMC/Jeep gauges are for amusement only. Any correlation between them and reality is purely coincidental!

I'm not 100% certain, but I think they're these- http://www.panther-wheels.net/product.php?type_id=18&sub_type_id=3&action=detail
Can't find a whole lot of information, so I have no idea how much I'd even be able to sell them for.

Still looking for proper Eagle wheels, but I might just settle for a set of Cherokees in the mean time.  I've been a bit hesitant to drive it with the ones it has, especially during roadwork season. If they're not a proper fit for this car I really don't want to be adding any unnecessary stress.

How difficult would it be to fix up something like this?

I have very similar wheels on mine but without the gold color.  They fit fine, but I added 1" spacers in the back so the front and back width is the same and so I could put the center caps on the back - otherwise the caps won't go on.
