Headlights as bright as high beams?

We finished the brakes and took my eagle out for a small test drive. It was night by then so I turned the headlights on and it seems like they are almost as bright as the high-beams according to my dad. I know they weren't on because the blue high beam light wasn't on and I turned it on and off. Doing that I myself didn't see a huge difference between the high beams and the regular headlights. It has all new headlights all around. Has anyone else had this problem or am I just seeing something that isn't there?  ???

Whay type of headlights are you running?
Stock Seal Beams or Semi-Sealed Conversions?

Are the headlights adjusted properly?  If the high beams are pointing to the same area as the low beams you may not notice much difference.

Check the voltages at the plugs. The connectors my corrode over time in the system.

I am pretty sure they are standard Sylvania headlights. We picked them up at Advanced Auto Parts.

The headlights haven't been aligned yet. Will try to get them adjusted as soon as the important engine work is done.

I'll look into that. Wouldn't be surprised if that had something to do with it since my car is 27 years old.

Headlight switches corrode and the lights get dim (switch gets hot) and the high beam switch corrodes too. Just doing a relay upgrade along makes a big difference!

 I had to replace all the connectors behind all the headlights on both Eagles.  I got new ones at Advance.

correct me if im wrong, but are you compaining your lights are *too* bright? im not sure i see a problem here. make sure theyre aimed well, and then maybe point your drivers side one in a hair to get it out of oncomers faces, and be happy that you can actually see with a terrible sealed beam setup. ive never been happy with sealed beams but on the other hand, yellowed housings are no better.

and for what its worth, fixing corroded connectors is really a great way to make your headlights brighter. unless youre seeing more than 14 volts at the head light plug at which point id wonder how the regulator in your alternator is working, or more of not working ;)

I'm sure he will straighten us out here, but I took it to mean that when he turned on his brights they together were no brighter than his dims.
