Last night I installed the newly covered seats in my car. Woo Hoo!
A bit if a PITA for the passenger side, though. Even though my 84 is a limited, only the drivers side is power. I had to drill 2 new holes in the floor to mount the passenger side power seat and plug up 3 leftover holes. I just used large bolts with washers to plug the holes, then I sprayed them with a rubberized undercoating material to make sure they don't rust or leak. I also noticed that my rear passenger carpet is a bit wet. Here we go again. I will try to get under the car to see if I can see any obvious holes from there, however, I fear I may have to pull the whole carpet out to fix the back.
Any ways, back to the seats. Here is a shot of the old seats as they came out.
Here are the new seats installed.
I tried to take a pic to compare the colour of the new seats with the original rear seats, but I think it may be distorted a bit.
I also replaced the rear seat, drivers side seat belt retractor with one that actually retracts. I replaced the floor mats with some new ones that are complimentary in colour. You can just see them one on the passenger side on the second picture. I have sent the car out today to get the rear glass replaced. I have one that I pulled that has a working defroster grid. Imagine, having a working defroster...pure luxury
.
The new seats are firmer than the old ones. Time will tell if they are more comfortable or not, though. I also drilled new holes in the seat angle adjustment bracket, so the seats can be sat more upright. My wife never like how far back the seats sat.
I think that's enough for now. I just have to drive the car for a bit to see about the comfort of the new seats.
Cheers
