I was replacing the ac/heater control head on the 83 wagon. When I tested it I found that it had blown an ac hose.
It's the hose that goes from the sight glass through the firewall up high next to the steering column. That puts it way up under the dash. It poured out lots of fluid.
I'm not asking for advice. I know how to fix it; take it to the shop and give someone lots of money.
I'm just venting here.
I really need to sell both Eagles and I wasn't having any luck before this, and now this certainly won't help.
For those of you spending big bucks on your Eagles, give it a lot of thought. I had planned on keeping my Eagles indefinitely but things change. I knew I wouldn't get the money back. I just didn't expect to need to.
Here is a partial list of what I spent on this one:
motor and installation..$3000
tranny and transfer case rebuild..$1000
brakes..$800 - $900
carb ..about $300?
headliner/seat recover..$200?
front end parts..a few hundred
ac upgrade..several hundred
miscellanous stuff like headlights, ignition upgrade, cargo cover, cargo carpet, etc., etc...no telling how many hundreds and hundres of dollars and blood, sweat and tears (blood and sweat are literal; it was 108F yesterday).
