i have a question for you guys concerning lifters. and it is do you have to remove the head to get them out or can you just remove the valvecover to get them?

Yup, like MK said had's gotta ome off as there is no clearance to pull them up out of the push-rod holes :(

On "dispoable" motors, I have taken a ball peen hammer and knocked a hole in the block by the lifter area, replaced the bad lifters, then epoxied/screwed a plate over the hole. I did it as a test for accessing that area to put a roller lifter cam in. I wanted to make sure it wasn't messing with the block strength.
AMC/Jeep gauges are for amusement only. Any correlation between them and reality is purely coincidental!
