One of the few non-operational items on the bird just dubbed Saint Michael tonight is the cruise control. I found what I assume to be the cruise module over low on the rear of the passenger inner fender, below a vacuum canister there. I popped a vacuum line off of it at idle and felt nothing at all on it. It's a very hard line to trace across the cowl area, but it appears to turn inside the cabin at the top of the firewall roughly in front of the steering column?? That just seems downright odd.
I quickly learned that AMC seem to have been huge fans of vacuum solenoids, so I'm wondering if not seeing vacuum there is a sure sign of a root cause or not.
As for the general health of the system, I found and fixed one broken line from the first time I pulled the air cleaner base off. I since learned the trick to doing that right with disconnecting the cold air duct and setting it on the valve cover without straining any of its lines. The only other possibly related symptom I can think of is HVAC temperature control seems to be on the warm side. Even driving at speed in 30 degree F temps, the air coming out was warm all the way on the cold side of the dial. Vent selection works, EGR works, brake assist works, I don't hear any other massive leaks.
Any suggestions or tips appreciated. Thanks.
