4l engine swap Questions

hi guys
its been a long time since i was here, i have had some trouble with the engine in my 88 wagon so i just bought a 4l HO jeep engine and transmission and i just have a few questions about it, i want to have fuel injected so what kind if fuel pump will i need? is there some conversion kit i could buy? and what kind of trouble could i have to face in this project

Conversion kit? yup, Mopar Performance sells a complete kit to go from a carb 258 to f/1 that is based off a 95 jeep 4.0 set up. Problem is, it's uber expensive. What all did you get, just the engine and trans, or did you get the wiring harnesses as well, along with computers? If not, you may want to pick up a rotted and blown up cherokee for parts (no joke). There have been a few members that have pieced it together via junkyard runs, but, it would be far easier, and cheaper to have a complete vehicle to take parts off of.  As far as the swap, can't help ya there, haven't done it yet, lol.

Oh, the best pump would be the factory one, depending on the year 4.0, fuel pressure was regulated at the pump or on the rail. If you have a rail regulated one, just use a pump that has the same or similar output of what the factory jeep one did.

 XJ 91-95 has the easiest to install harness (it's almost all under the hood) Except for the fill spout being in the wrong location, the XJ tank can be put into SX4s (Eagle wagon is bigger). I cut the fill off my rusted old tank and it's going to be put on with rivets and tank sealer.

Why not utilize the xj's spout, and weld it on the tank?

I had to go this route because the sx/4's filler was mush, and severely rusted.

What year and model Jeep is the engine and transmission from? Is the engine complete with manifolds and accessories? The easiest, not the cheapest way to go, would be using a Hesco conversion harness. If you are using the Jeep transmission you will be able to use the CPS in the bellhousing. If using the factory Eagle transmission the easiest, again not cheapest way, would be to using the front mounted CPS kit from Hesco.
