I found a build sheet on the floorboards when removing my carpet.
There is no state number entered, but the dealer number is 7971.

How can I look these dealer numbers up so I can tell which dealership sold my car.
Any help appreciated!

I don't think I have run across a list with dealer numbers.  Not to say one might be out there.

Here are the dealer codes from the New England region as of 1986.

Do you have the rest of the regions?

That is pretty late in AMC's history so I bet many old time dealerships are not listed.  I wonder if AMC reused numbers as I see some pretty low ones there that associated to dealerships that appear to be later day ones.

Unfortunately, this is the entire list of dealer codes presently in my collection.
Some of them, such as Hassan Brothers and Brigham-Gill, survive to this day.

My November 1982 dealer directory does not include a dealer's number.  I wish it did.

Where did you obtain this list? I know that my car was in the midwest possibly in Illinois.

In the very first series of boards at the AMC Heritage Forums we discuss/document dealer information.  http://route66rambler.com/forum/forumview.htm

I got my first eagle in 1983 at Bonneville and Sons In N.H. and I see their code is 1965, The Year I was Born! Was meant to be!

El Matador

It's at least good to know that such a list was actually published.  Gives me hope of maybe finding one someday.

I see numbers on that list ranging from 0008 to 7998.  I think the Canadian dealer codes started in the 8000 range.
1973 Matador 2 door
1979 Concord 2 door
1980 Concord 4 door
1980 Eagle 2 door
1980 Eagle 2 door

1981 Eagle wagon
1982 Concord 2 door
1987 Eagle wagon
