See corrections below.  You don't often see fender skirts on an AMC product.  That is a V8 Ambassador that appears very well equipped.  Base price was 2,395 and it is rare, only 273 made.

Correction from my previous post.  This is a Classic V8, Super Model, Base price $2397, with 2,156 built.  Interestingly enough, except for the wagon models the higher priced Ambassadors sold better than the Classic V8's.  Of course the I-6 Classics were the biggest sellers by a huge amount.

To the base price, add:  Auto trans 229.50; Heater (probably) 82.50; PS 89.50, PB 41.95, radio (probably) 86.20; outside rear view mirrors 10.50; full wheel covers 16.95 and probably many more options that we can't say for sure.  The dual spot lights, lake pipes and fender skirts are not listed as factory options.  I am guessing this was around a $4,000 car when new.

All in all a very fine example of a popular car for AMC in 1961.
