Fresh Air Intake Hoses - Out of Production
« on: October 01, 2011, 03:23:06 PM »
Anyone who likes to keep their Eagle all stock should know that the fresh air intake hoses (the black flexible hose that goes from the radiator support to the air filter housing) are now out of production.   The one I usually get is Dorman/Motormite/Help brand P/N 96050.   Anyone who runs across any at a decent price (under $10) should grab it if they need it.    I just mail-ordered a half-dozen at $5.87 each (cleaned out their stock).   They will probably be gone soon as they are also used on a number of Ford & Jeep applications.   I've noticed some vendors with leftovers are hiking the price to over $20!!

Where did you get yours?  rockauto.com has them for $9.09 but I don't know how many they have.

The place I cleaned out was called Central High Performance.    I wonder if the Standard DH20 will work.   The photo they show sure doesn't look correct.   I'd like to see one in person.

The picture on rockauto looks like the one on our 83 and 88, though I can see only one end.  Both ends should be rectangular.  I looked up one for 1987.
We are talking about the same part, aren't we?

I wonder if pre-heater hoses wil become scarce?  I've bought a couple off parts store aisle shelves lately.

They shouldn't as they were used on way more cars then just AMCs. I know Chrysler used them in the early 70s, as well as GM and Ford, and they all looked about the same diameter. Length doesn't really matter as they are flexible.

I know this is an older thread but has anyone found a good replacement for the Air Intake Hose being the part numbers listed here seem to be out of production?

THanks,

Rich

I'd be tempted to try the Dorman 96088 hose.   Its listed for other AMC vehicles incl the Pacer, which I know for a fact has the same size/shape ends as the Eagles (I compared the ones on my Pacers and Eagles).    Its probably just a tad different length, but should work OK.
