I know, not the best pic. but if you blow it up & look by the front lic. plate area, you can see lt. I call it a chrome strip, but it's not really. It's LIKE body side molding, but on the bumper. How do I "glue" it back on? I *THINK* I recall reading somewhere use alcohol (NOT booze) to clean it. Would this be appropriate? Sedan in the background, NOT the wagon, sorry.

I use 3M molding tape; after of course cleaning off all the old crap.   There's probably something better out there, now that glue plays a big part in bodywork nowadays.

Thanks George. Is that type of alcohol good to clean it up before I put the tape on?

First I get all the glue off of course - using Goo Gone or 3M General Purpose Adhesive Remover (the 3M stuff has gotten expensive!) or whatever I can find that'll melt the crap without dissolving the rubber.   Then I clean with Dupli-Color Grease & Wax Remover (Dupli-Color because I got a smokin' deal on a case a while back), then a final wipe with AutoZone Brake Cleaner (I love that stuff - good for what ails you!).    Of course alcohol will work OK too for a final cleanup; I just like the stronger stuff myself.   The cleaner it is, the better it'll stay stuck.

Awww geez....I'm blushing now.    Thanks for the compliments.   We old guys can't keep all that "real-world experience" knowledge to ourselves -- wouldn't be right!

I'm baaaack! This was all I could find at Slow Reilly's. Y'all think this will be close enough? No Goo Gone, No Duplicolor wax remover, & of course, no Zone brake cleaner. I don't think the brand name will be a big deal there.

Never tried decal remover before - except about a century ago when I was building plastic models.   Acetone would also probably be good for a final cleanup.
