Front brake job question
« on: January 02, 2021, 08:51:23 PM »
Hello,

I am attempting to replace the pads and rotors on my '84 sedan.  Does anyone know what the head of the caliper fixing bolt is?  I read elsewhere, and the person at the parts store said, it was an  E-14, but it's larger than that.  (It is an external torx head, not the 9/16.)  I can't get a caliper on either of them for a good measurement.

I appreciate the help; you'll save me at least one trip to the store with my current guess-and-check method.

It's an E-16 in case that helps anyone later.

I tried to look it up in the AMC Standard Parts Catalog when I saw your first post.   It gave everything about the bolt - material, hardness, length, thickness, thread size, how many are on the car, and that it was a Torx-head bolt -- but the catalog doesn't say what size Torx!!  That surprised me.
