Manual Shifter for NP129?
« on: June 18, 2020, 06:30:06 PM »
Aloha, as the Germans say:

Looking at the '82 TSM diagrams for the 129 Transfer case, there appears to be a small lever, labelled "range lever", on the body of the transfer case that resembles the selector levers on the Wrangler transfer cases. What I am wondering is if anyone has had any success replacing the vacuum-controlled shift motor with a manually-actuated shift lever to be manipulated from inside the cabin?

I have not looked at it yet myself, and I would bet this would be a swift failure-to-launch. I still believe it is worth a shot to ask, though.

Thanks a bunch!

More young men should work on old cars.
