85 AMC Eagle V Belt pulleys
« on: June 02, 2013, 02:44:59 PM »
I need to know were I can find all 3 pulleys for my 85 AMC Eagle wagon with the 258 engine & Auto trans? I also have factory A/C an I have the V Belt setup with 3 pulleys an 3 belts not the serpentine belt setup. I blew the bearings in 1 of the pulleys & need it replaced.

That's an idler pulley and if it's not bent, you can replace just the bearings. Most of them are 6202-2rsj depending on the ID and OD of the bearings. 6302-2rsj is another common one. The first 2 numbers are the diameter in metric. Second 2 is the ID and the 2RSJ is 2 rubber sealed (can't think of the J word) There are ones that are just metal shielded too.

Is it the pulley right at the top in the middle, above the water pump?

You can still get those at auto parts stores

If its the flat one below the compressor you have to replace just the bearing

dont know which one is bad 2 of them were replaced bout 3-5 months ago. I will have a guy look at it this week an fix it an other things on it. An the parts stores can only get the Idler pulley the big one they cant get the other pulleys cause this car has the V belt setup an not the Serpentine belt setup there computer only show for Serpentine belt setup not V belt setup.

6203-2rsj is rubber sealed both sides, more common and usually cheaper/easier to find.
