Rear Main Bearing Oil Seal /Bearing Cap concern

I'm in the process of replacing the oil pan gasket and the rear main bearing oil seal. Upon removal of the oil seal from the bearing cap I see the top corner edge is chipped away or defected. I'm concern that even after replacing the seal its still going to leak? I've attached multi images in hopes that some one could advise me that I'm wasting my time putting this back on or that I need to look for a new bearing cap all together?

imo I personally would not be to concerned about it . Just be sure to apply a good amount of sealant in that area .
If it were chipped or cracked around the crank seal then I'd might look for another bearing cap. You might try a dab of JB weld or similar epoxy and file it smooth .

They are specific for each position on each individual engine, so replacing it with one from another engine will not work.
Replacing the bearing cap is a bad idea, unless you are planning to line bore the mains.

i have seen one cracked in that very area before. i just used it as it was. no jb crap, or extra silicone. just treated it as normal and it worked.

I would make sure the area is sealed with high temp silicone when you reassemble. Looks like something was stuck last time they pulled the motor apart. I heard there is a 1 piece replacement rear seal now but haven't seen it yet.
