Tire size.. turbocast II on a SX/4 ??

I know there are a bunch of tire topics out there.. But unfortunately I didn't find exactly what I was searching for
81 SX/4 with possibly a bit of sag in the springs.. (which I will take care of later)
I need tires first to street drive and find any other potential problems first though
I put a set of turbocast II rims on it and love the stance.. Now for the tire size.. I read that 215/75 fits with no issues.. sounds like 225/75 will fit too?? Even with my serious offset?? They are like 7" wide with only 3" backspacing...
I saw in a post that captspillane had showed a picture of phils??? with those wheels... anyone know who that is and what size tire they are running on it and if it is close or could go up a size??
After title gets to me and some tires another SX/4 will be on the road and then time to make her pretty again...

I had to do some minor trimming with 215/75/15's and a bit more when I installed 225/75's and I have a little bit of a lift.

I forgot to note that I am not running fender flares at all... What wheels are you running that you have to trim even with 215s??
