Every one I have tried in the past 5 years has leaked. I took my valve apart and removed the O-rings then reassembled on my previous wagon. Seemed to work okay. Aside from that, I would look at early XJ ones (without ABS)

The dash light does not go out . (had to unplug it to pass inspection)    The brake balance is not right . rears lock some times with lite pedal pressure. I pulled the valve off a project car and put on my daily driver and have similar problem . Tried pulling one apart but its all corroded  and froze . Can't get it apart  with out damaging the internals.

Brake prop valves very RARELY have issues. Most brake issues are due to bad master cylinder, air in the lines, or foreign debris on the braking surfaces. (leaking wheel seal, a large amount of dust inside the drums, or a faulty master cylinder, letting fluid bypass to the front brakes.

Do you have excessive pedal travel?

Brake prop valves are hard to find for specific vehicles. Their valve spring rates are specific to a vehicles weight, brake system, options ect. Good luck finding one that works propperly.

If your rear brakes lock up too early try backing off on the adjuster at the bottom. With that backed off enough your front brakes will do the majority of the stopping.

Keep in mind that there is a wire going to the Ebrake lever. That will put the brake light on if it is unplugged.

A common cause for your problem is putting the left-hand thread adjuster on the wrong side of the car. I forget off-hand but I think it was Drivers side was Left hand thread, and passenger side Right hand thread. I had them swapped on one Eagle I bought and it was a pain until I found the issue.

I replaced both wheel cyls. on the rear and both front calipers. Replaced all the hardware on rear with new shoes and drums. New master cyl. and booster . All adjusted properly. Pedal travel is correct. Tried cleaning valve but it has a lot of corrosion , maybe moisture in the system a some point. I've checked the dash light system and it traces back to the valve sticking internally.

I had that dash brake warning light come on after doing a brake job on my car. I figured it was that brake proportioning valve. I slammed my foot into the brake pedal as hard as I could a few times & it went off.

The valve gets messed up from contaminated fluid over the years. Not many people replace their fluid unless they have to.
