Wanting to know what to expect for replacing a pinion bearing and pinion seal. How difficult? Has anyone had a shop do this and what is the cost? Thanks!!

It's almost the same amount of labor as doing a gear swap since it's all got to come apart to remove the pinion gear. Depending on the area and shop probably $200-400 range.

Depends on whether the inner needs replacing too. Do the outer and seal yourself and take a chance. Worst that will happen is you'll be out a bearing, a seal and some time.
AMC/Jeep gauges are for amusement only. Any correlation between them and reality is purely coincidental!
