Hi the "Power Bulge" hood originated when AMC put the V8 in the small bodies, spirit, concord ,etc. for carb/air cleaner clearance. After the V8 years, ending in 1979, it was used on all "sporty" models. All Spirits/SX4's, no matter the engine, had this hood. In 85, to consolidate tooling, or just use up leftover parts, ALL Eagles got this hood. I, for one , have a 79 Spirit, and a 77 Hornet AMX, and a 78 Concord AMX, with these hoods. They look good. I also have an 82 and an 84 Eagle sedan with the flat hoods, and I like them as well. They have a certain elegance, smooth, with a hood ornament, I like it! BTW, my 79 Spirit has the 232 1BBL, not a big deal in and of itself, but, 1979 was the last year the 232 was built and available as an option from AMC. So, I probably have one of the last, original, factory cars with the 232, Russet Metallic, 46,000 miles! OK, sorry, got carried away. Anyway, putting together an 84 Eagle sedan right now, flat hood, I'm keeping it! thanks gz
